First we recall the main questions we can have considering each step of a pattern recognition system. Then two important topics are studied. We focus on the influence of fuzzy logic in pattern recognition applications. Besides, fuzzy rule system, evidence and possibilistic theory are presented in this context. Aggregating methods based on fuzzy measures are also provided. The last part concerns graph theory in pattern recognition. The definition of different graph structures following the application under consideration is given. Then several methods of exact and inexact matching depending on previous described graphs are presented.
